The Institute of IT Training (IITT) has launched an online benchmarking service for IT trainers to grade themselves against the group's skills framework.
The Skills Tracker service uses the trainer's qualifications and self-assessment of how they measure up to the IITT's competency framework and then grades them and offers a future development plan.
Users of Skills Tracker can assess themselves against the 12 different specialisations defined in the IITT skills framework, including classroom delivery, e-learning development and management. The service is free and available to both members and non-members.
The service was developed by skills management software company InfoBasis, and Alan Bellinger, business development director at the IITT, said such in-depth profiling would have been too expensive to do any other way.
"With Skills Tracker we are doing an assessment of what they can do and mapping what they say they can do against certificates they have got and other factors. We are assessing their ability to deliver the skills," he said.
The IITT said that accredited IT trainer membership is increasing as enterprises look for high-quality IT training to get the most out of their technology staff.
A post graduate medical qualification is preferred and full membership of a Royal College or other appropriate European Diploma is advantantageous. ...
