IT pros are making roughly the same salaries as last year, according to preliminary results from silicon.com's Skills Survey 2005.
The largest share of respondents to our survey – 34 per cent – make £25,001 to £40,000 a year. Just over half – 55 per cent – make under £40,000 while 40 per cent make £40,001 to £110,000 and 5 per cent make over £110,000 – approximately the same figures as last year's survey.
The gains made in 2005 were quite minor. For instance, in the £40,001 to £55,000 salary range, there was a 2 per cent gain from 2004 to make up 20 per cent of respondents.
Likewise, there were 1 per cent rises in the £55,001 to £110,000 and above £110,001 ranges, to 21 per cent and 4.6 per cent of the total, respectively.
Just over a third of respondents said they worked in the technology sector, which was the most common sector, followed by financial, government, manufacturing and education.
You can still make your opinions heard by taking the silicon.com Skills Survey 2005 before 26 April.
The preliminary results are based on responses from 1,182 individuals, most of whom work in the UK.
