That survey gave average salary that were exaggerated by up to 10-15k IMHO.
It quotes salaries for Senior Software Engineers to be about 66k, Job web sites are posting salaries for Senior Java Developers in the mid 50k range (C++ is slightly less I believe ) . I was offered 53k last year (Java developer with 6 yrs experience). I opted for a contract as the wage was marginally better since being the only wage earner in the house I could not afford to live in Dublin on that wage. Ironically one of the better paid jobs I saw was in Belfast for about 70-80k for a Senior Software Engineer. However, there are precious few jobs in Northern Ireland from what I can tell,
