I would NOT advise my children to go into IT now. The bubble has burst

My son did follow me, but after university, he has struggled to gain employment.

Outsourcing to India (eg) is a BIG issue, as is the fact that all employers want at least three years experience of the very latest technology that has only been out three months.

My son has more experience of Macdonalds and bar work than IT.. Not a very good return on his degree.

My two girls didnt even consider IT as a career. One thought of being a teacher, but I managed to persuade her that it was not a good option. Not because of the job itself, but because of the Kids, and their parents in todays "Litigation" mentality.
