I've been working from home for the last four years, and I do like the freedom it gives. Given I have colleagues all the way from here (Somerset) to Lerwick, all of us being in the office together is a *very* rare event, and like you, we communicate by phone, email and IM.
The only thing you have to watch out for is people trying to call you at all sorts of unsocial hours. Last night, for example, there was a message timed at 21:57.
I didn't know anything about it until 8AM this morning when I checked the voice mail - thank goodness I'd unlinked my mobile from the mailbox, otherwise I'd have been SMS'd last night.
So, you do have to be a bit rigorous with when you make yourself available to callers, but otherwise it works well.
Regards
Neil
