Hi there,
unfortunately I have to earn my money elsewhere because customers very often don’t want to have a female project manager. This is what I have heard very often when I was working together with agencies. I am a project manager who also knows Java, speaks 4 languages, has outsourcing experience inclusive a longer stay in China and 9 years of experience in managing international projects, master degree and two IT diplomas.
Most of the companies are not willing to give jobs which require travelling activities or longer stays abroad to women. But as project manager man are preferred who are less qualified than woman. Unfortunately I always loose against less qualified man. And I also have to say that I am not ugly and my behavior is always friendly. And the best is I often get offers as assistant which no one would offer to a man who has my skills and experience as Manager.
By the way there was already a woman inside a space shuttle flying to the moon and in Germany our chancellor is MS Merkel , also a woman. But in IT it ‘is a handicap to be a woman!
In addition I have to mention that as a woman working independently you have to take a lot and you cannot complain about discrimination and very rude male behavior because it is your customer.
