Current average advertised UK salaries for ICT stafff for most job categories are currently no different, or even below, those for staff in post (SSP salary survey). Meanwhile the number of jobs advertiseed has fallen sharlp. Both are evidence that the curent problem is lack of recruitment not lack of stafff seeking jobs.
Meanwhile staff churn in India has reached 24%: cldar evidence of a lack of skilled and experienced staff.
There will be another crisis shortly (see my Blog: "When It Meets Politics" for the reasoning) but immigration will not help becuase those on offer do not have the skills or epxeirnece that will e in demand. We need domestic cross-trianing and updating programmes for those already in the industry.
For the first time in years the Home Office has got it right. They should never have introduced the fast track process for ICT professionals in the first place. Those who used it should have been "encouraged" to train their own instead.
