Skills Survey 2006: Does the board respect IT?
Depends on who you ask...

While the board says it values ideas coming from the IT department, IT workers aren't quite as confident their voices are being heard.

In silicon.com's exclusive 2006 Skills Survey, just over half (58 per cent) of board directors and CEOs, COOs and CFOs said they value the ideas of IT directors and IT managers.

The top of the IT department feels the same way: 58 per cent of CIOs and IT directors believe the board values their ideas.

But those one rung down the ladder are not so positive about the relationship with the boardroom. Just over a third of IT managers (37 per cent) said the board appreciates their ideas, while 30 per cent said the board does not.

Across all job titles 34 per cent agreed the board values IT directors' and IT managers' ideas, while 27 per cent disagreed.

The results are based on responses from 1,198 individuals.
