The Charity Commission is about to sign a £5m deal with Parity Group for IT support and the development of its ebusiness strategy.

The five-year contract, which is due to be signed in the next few weeks, will see Parity provide development and support for the Commission's current business applications.

A number of major ebusiness projects will also be implemented over the lifetime of the contract. The first key part of this is an electronic document and records management system (EDRMS), which will ensure compliance with standards set by the Public Record Office.

This will allow for the digitisation of the Commission's paper-intensive audit trail and reduce the manual administration required for each charity enquiry or registration.

Ian Miller, CEO at Parity, said in a statement: "We are excited by the prospect of working with the Charity Commission on its EDRMS project, currently a topic at the top of the agenda for most government organisations."
