The latest individual to join the e-government bandwagon is Tony Blair himself – with a new email address to be made available to the public.

While there's no definite date yet for the email address to go live, Downing Street expect people to be able to drop a line to the PM from the end of the month.

While a Downing Street spokesman said that the email address had been in the pipeline for a while, he put the delay in its roll out down to technical issues.

All mail that finds its way into Blair's inbox will be filtered, with only the "very interesting" being passed on to the man himself. Due to the sheer amount of email that Number 10 expects the address to receive it's not yet certain whether everyone will receive a reply. A government spokesman said: "Due to the issues with volume, it might just be a standard 'Thank you for your email response'."

Hackers hoping to crack the PM's PC may be disappointed. The spokesman said necessary security measures will be in place.
