In brief: UK gamblers offered tax-free Net service

The UK's first tax-free online betting service is set to launch on 3 August.

Based in the Channel Islands, it aims to exploit the tax-free status of the island of Alderney to allow punters to place bets without paying the UK government's nine per cent betting tax.

The service's Web address will be www.sportingbet.com
