Microsoft and the US Department of Justice (DoJ) have revealed who will be testifying in the anti-trust case due to start later this month.
The list includes many fo the highest profile names in the technology world. Bill Gates' right hand man Paul Maritz and Netscape's Jim Barksdale are among the 25 strong line-up.
The DoJ has accused Maritz of being instrumental in the bundling of Internet Explorer (IE) with Windows and of persuading AOL and Compuserve to distribute IE rather than Netscape Navigator. The government also contends Maritz was partly behind efforts to 'blunt' Java.
Jim Allchin, a vice president in charge of Windows 98, stands accused of writing incriminating emails proposing that Windows be "leveraged from a marketing perspective". Brad Chase, another Microsoft vice president will answer allegations that he warned browser technology could make Windows obsolete.
The DoJ's star witness, Franklin Fisher, a Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor and well known US economic expert, is also expected to appear. Fisher was IBM's leading economic expert in its fight against the justice department.
