Unesco - the cultural agency of the UN - has announced plans to discuss the growing problem of child pornography distributed by the Internet.
The Director General of Unesco, Frederico Mayor, reportedly said a meeting is needed because a crackdown on pornography is long overdue. The meeting will to take place in January 1999.
The plans join a wave of recent initiatives launched to tackle the problem including a filtering program introduced into the UK in March by the Internet Watch Foundation.
