By Julian Goldsmith

One of the worlds leading electrical engineers, Emerson Electric is demanding that the suppliers of its UK subsidiary, Control Techniques trade in euros.

The subsidiary generates about £15m of revenue for UK businesses per year. The company said it will start this policy from next year when other European countries formally adopt the euro.

Control Techniques joins British Steel, ICI and the UK division of Siemens as euro-enforcers.
