NEC chairman resigns

The continuing defence procurement scandal in Japan has claimed a high profile victim. Chairman of NEC Corp, Tadahiro Sekimoto resigned but insisted he knows nothing about the scandal.

Thirteen NEC employees have been arrested on suspicion of overcharging the Japanese government for defence contracts. It is alleged that military officials let the payments through in exchange for jobs for retiring officers.
