Brown likely to back measures to help high-tech firms

The UK Chancellor, Gordon Brown, is this afternoon likely to back tax incentives and stock options schemes as ways to encourage the growth of high-tech start-ups.

His Pre-Budget Report (PBR), which will take the form of a speech in the Commons, will look at the general state of the UK economy, as well as proposed specific measures for encouraging commercial growth.
