The online sale of the anti-impotence drug, Viagra, looks doomed today after a UK High Court Judge ordered an Internet trader to stop marketing the product.
Viagra's manufacturer, pharmaceuticals giant, Pfizer, sought the court order to stop Wolverhampton trader, Dean Sithwentis from selling the product on his www.viagra-plus.com Web site. The injunction will last until a further hearing, due to be held next Monday.
Among the reasons for Pfizer's move to block online sales of the drug is the danger of claims arising from its unprescribed use.
Viagra is licensed in the UK but is only available through limited and private sources. The NHS is said to be thinking hard about the drug before putting it into the hands of the public.
