The Business Software Alliance (BSA) has launched another campaign to stamp out software piracy.
Crackdown 99 is aimed at 80,000 small businesses. The BSA has warned that any company found guilty of using illegal software will be heavily fined, and the directors could face up to two years in prison.
Last year, the BSA prosecuted 292 organisations, an increase of 34 per cent on the previous year. Among firms to feel the wrath of the BSA during 1998 was Internet giant, AOL.
