The NHS is being encouraged to learn about better business and IT strategies from a Loughborough-based electronics company.

Datalink Electronics has been selected as a good role model under the NHS Beacon programme, which aims to help modernise Britain's healthcare sector.

Eric Luckwell, managing director of Datalink, claimed that the NHS will learn about the effective implementation of IT from his company.

He said: "It seems [the NHS departments] have the systems in place, but want to learn about applying business efficiencies into their own systems such as throughput of patients, waiting lists and prescription procedures."
