Euro conversion software company, Fastrack IT, today blamed Tony Blair's "dithering" over the single currency for the failure of its flagship product.
Abacus - a billing, CRM and marketing product designed to help companies move over to the euro - has been shelved because the government has failed to set a firm timetable for Britain's single currency adoption, according to the company.
But Fastrack IT's protest has been met with little sympathy at the Business and Accounting Software Development Association (Basda) - the leading authority on conversion issues.
Basda's chief executive, Dennis Keeling, said: "This is just an excuse - obviously if you're trying to sell conversion software you'd supply it to the eleven other countries in Europe that are entering the euro."
According to the company's director, Paul Rosenthal, the Abacus project will now have to be suspended.
