BSA and ITIC lead call to keep ecommerce unregulated

The Business Software Alliance (BSA) and the Information Technology Industry Council (ITIC) have appealed to international governments to keep ecommerce free of regulation.

The call comes just two weeks before trade ministers are due to gather in Seattle for the World Trade Organisation's (WTO) ministerial summit.

In a White Paper, Robert Holleyman, president and CEO of the BSA said the WTO summit is an ideal opportunity to lay some ground rules to help keep ecommerce free of regulation.

He said trade ministers should continue to keep cyberspace duty free and focus on expanding the benefits of ecommerce to developing countries.

A copy of the white paper is available from http://www.itic.org .
