Alex Allan, the UK e-envoy, has been cranking up his profile this week with the announcement of his plans for the coming year.

Allan took up his post this month and is responsible for overseeing the UK government's ecommerce strategy. His main responsibility will be to maintain a constant flow of communication between the government and industry.

Allan will be publishing monthly reports mapping the government's progress and will launch a Web site shortly that is intended to ease information flows between the government, industry and public.

He will also be in constant contact with e-minister Patricia Hewitt and the e-government minister Ian McCartney through his work on modernising public services.
