Blair addresses nation in online webcast

UK Prime Minister Tony Blair has taken to the internet in the first of a series of weekly webcasts.

Hailed as the latest development in electronic government, the weekly missive will stay on the site for three months.

In the first of his internet statements to the nation, Blair admitted he is getting used to his PC, "after many years of not really wanting to come to terms with the new computer technology".

The new feature is part of a larger overhaul of Number 10's website. The webcast features a photo of the Prime Minister with an audio recording of his statement.

A Downing Street spokesman said there is "every likelihood" that full video streaming would be used in the near future.
