Lastminute.com faces court battle in Germany

Just days before its much-touted initial public offering, online leisure company Lastminute.com has admitted it is preparing to fight a court battle in Germany with a rival 'clicks and mortar' travel firm.

In its revised company prospectus, Lastminute.com stated L'tur Tourismus is taking legal proceedings against its subsidiary, Last Minute Network Germany.

L'tur Tourismus alleges that the use of the 'Lastminute.com' domain name is anti-competitive and "misleads with respect to 'last minute' offers of travel commencing more than 14 days from the date of the offer, and violates unfair trade practices law in Germany".

Lastminute.com said it intends to contest the allegations and added it didn't expect the impeding court battle to have a significant effect on the company's financial position. Lastminute.com is expected to float for £526m.
