A Dubai court has legally endorsed a divorce notice issued by a Dubai man to his wife via SMS.
The couple approached the court after the man sent a message to his wife saying, "Why are you late? You are divorced," to ask if the message had legal status.
A report in the Gulf Times said the man later changed his mind, and the couple are reportedly still together.
Under Islamic law, a man can divorce his wife simply by saying, "I divorce thee" three times. Less than three times, and the man has the right to reverse his decision within three months.
