
The beginning of the end for those hoping to see Microsoft punished?

The US state of New Mexico has pulled out of the ongoing antitrust case against Microsoft and has settled all its claims against the software giant.
New Mexico Attorney General Patricia Madrid has issued a statement calling for a speedy resolution of the case, and warning against trying to make the company pay a penalty that could have detrimental effects on consumers and businesses.
Reuters quotes her as saying: "I am no longer persuaded a break-up remains appropriate or will ultimately be ordered by the courts."
New Mexico was one of 19 states taking action against Microsoft. The move may prompt others to follow suit.
