AMD has filed a suit against Intel in a US court, slamming its monopoly position, and requesting that Intel hand over confidential documents to aid an EC anti-trust investigation against it.
The suit, filed with the US District Court of Northern California, requests Intel release secret documents which outline how the company deals with PC makers who refuse to work with Intel chips.
AMD requires the documents for a European anti-trust suit it filed against Intel last year.
The documents were first submitted as evidence in a 1997 lawsuit taken against Intel by PC maker Intergraph.
Intergraph claimed that Intel selectively withheld advance information on new workstation technology following a dispute over patent claims filed by Intergraph.
AMD did not disclose the nature of the documents, and said if they were released they would be passed onto the EC and not made publicly available.
Intel said it will fight the case, claiming the documents were highly confidential and are unrelated to the EC case.
