LogicaCMG gets £10.2m SAP council deal

LogicaCMG has won a £10.2m deal with Hertfordshire County Council to migrate its ageing back-office legacy systems onto SAP.

As part of the five-year organisational change and managed services project, LogicaCMG will be responsible for moving the council's procurement, human resources, payroll and financial management systems onto a single SAP-based solution.

The council said the project will deliver better management reporting, accommodate flexible working, enhance productivity and improve access to services and information by consolidating the data into one system.

Caroline Tapster, CEO of Hertfordshire County Council, said in a statement that the move forms part of its ongoing commitment to maintain its Audit Commission performance assessment ranking as the best performing county council in the country.

"We operate one of the most innovative local authorities in the country, investing in technology and management processes that have proven successful in the private sector," she said.

Recent figures from AMR Research predicted that the proportion of IT budgets going on enterprise resource planning software will increase over the next year, up from 26.6 per cent of IT software spending this year to 27.2 per cent.
