Leave Apple alone!
Minority Report: Apple's blues
I have lots of thrid party software on my computer. I upgraded without a hitch. The os is stabile and working beautifully. I have not heard from any of my many Mac friends that any problem was encountered.
-- Anonymous, California
I moved from Windows to Mac OSX 2 years ago and have never looked back. The upgrade was smooth and although there are a couple of things that annoy me… its a good upgrade
-- Anonymous, London
Didn't have a problem whatsoever, although a couple of third party software programs failed to work for me. Not a big deal.
In comparison, my wife uses a Windows XP laptop. It's always going wrong, is difficult to fix but in some ways it serves a purpose. I have even put XP on my
MacBook Pro and with Leopard it's even easier to move from one to another.

Talking rubbish
Chip and bin to combat climate change?
What is this odsession with the weight of waste all about? One of the biggest problems is plastic waste, mostly excessive packaging. It is light but high volume. Despite plastics being labelled with recycling codes for years now, there are very limited facilities for recycling.
-- Nick Borek, Bristol
And they say the education system hasn't been dumbed down. If the current crop of useless governmental policy makers are anything to go by, I think the case is proven.
First they pretend that alternate bin collections are supposed to promote recycling, but even though people saw through it, they still insist it's not just a cost cutting exercise.
Now they are using this years silly soundbite for all crap policies to claim that chipping bins will 'reduce the carbon footprint' and 'combat climate change'.
it will just waste money by putting a worthless chip into a bin so they can charge people more for rubbish they haven't put it the bin.
-- Graham Coles, UK
Rather than passing legislation to penalise the individual, and passing the buck onto local authorities, this government, so keen on micromanaging every other aspect of our lives, should pass enforceable legislation that ensures that manufacturers, importers and retailer use the minimum appropriate packaging, and that this packaging is either compostable or recyclable.
-- Guy Reynolds, Letchworth
And there won't be an increase in fly-tipping of course!!!
It's another tax on the law abiding general public.
-- Adrian Carey, Hemel
Technology could help improve services, reduce taxation - and improve our lives: Instead, government uses it to exercise yet more control over our lives.
-- Richard, UK
iPhone, iWant?
iPhone in the UK: Hands up who wants one?
from the review done on the gadget show it looks like everything that is attached to a premium service like iTunes or mobile web browsing is really good but more mature things like the camera function or texting using the on screen keyboard are a bit lacking.
-- Karen Challinor, UK
THE mobile phone for "fashionistas" - for everyone else - stick with something at a reasonable price/function mix - which this is not - and with freedom to change networks for a decent air time deal.
-- Anonymous, South
I've seen it.
I've used it.
It's very cool indeed.
I want one.
-- Don Tregartha, MK
Lost it over data!
Pensions details on lost CD not encrypted
and the government expect us to have confidence in the new ID cards, where even more information will be available in one place?!
