I have been in Biometrics for years. The idea of a finger print algorithm just being held on a smart card is absolute rubbish. It will take 2 minutes when visiting the bank to log your biometric signiture in with the bank to verify what is on the card, every time you use the card you will use the sensor on the card and a pin. It is a three way security system. Plus most keyboards will have a sensor or a standalone sensor 1st quarter 2005. For web/telephone transactions. There is in place an ANONYMOUS fingerprint verification server being put in place at the moment. It works.
