The UK Government spends an astronomical amount of money on IT every year and at present this does not filter down to providing considerably better services to the public. Hopefully Ian Watkins' appointment with ensure less funds are spent (wasted) in a more efficient manner. I also note that Martin Brampton gives the impression that the Government's public services are currently at a high level? He must have a very blinkered view of public services or has been extremely lucky in his, what are probably limited, dealings with them.
