The assumption that RFID will survive a hostile environment seems misplaced.
It is easy to make a device which will burn out the RFID device but, of course, nobody in prison is going to do that are they?
If the reprogrammable RFID chips are used it will become even more exciting. Prisoners will be able to swap identities :)
Again the belief that technology will solve every problem and not create a whole host of new ones.
