I think the cards are a great idea. They are going to be far more secure than other forms of ID and will help key perverts away fronm our children as well as keeping tabs on people with extremists sympathies.
I used to believe that the card might infringe civil liberties but after reading the nonsense at www.no2id.net from the conspiracy theorists, religious nuts and BNP supporters I realised that ordinary people have nothing to fear from the Bill. Those that have something to hide will hate it of course and will campaign like hell to stop it.
