The people responsible for the protection of children are and have always been the parents/guardians of those children.
The request for information on pornography under the guise of protecting children is a thinly veiled attempt to censor the internet.
The U.S. is simply trying to impose their will upon the rest of the world, and THAT manipulation (censorship) will do greater harm to the world than the pornography would have.
