This is good news for my business - I am MD of a UK dating site. Previously we wanted to bid on certain terms but couldn't.

Creating open season at least makes it a more even playing field. Previously it was the big guys that had the time and resources to pursue enforcement.

As an analogy I think it is a bit like when you go to a shop and ask for a Coke. They might well say, "Well we have Coke, Pepsi, or there is a two for one offer on Virgin Cola." That is pretty helpful. It would be less in the interests of the consumer if the shop wasn't allowed to mention alternative drinks when a punter asked for a Coke.
