Health systems get smart with patient records
By Joey Gardiner
Published: Thursday 13 July 2000
Personal health systems provider LifeGard has developed a smartcard capable of holding a patient's full medical record.
LifeGard claims the technology, based on multi-application operating system MULTOS, allows it to be programmed to securely hold individual patient records.
The smartcards are to undergo trials in three hospitals - two in the UK - later this year.
