Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) has won a $500m sub-contract from IBM, after Big Blue picked up a seven-year, $5bn outsourcing contract from JP Morgan Chase at the start of the year.

CSC will manage part of the investment bank's data processing infrastructure made up of around 4,000 servers. CSC has been working with JP Morgan since 1996 but the contract is due to end in July this year.

CSC will also help IBM put in place a data processing delivery platform. Although IBM will be making use of its range of enterprise class server, storage and other systems, JP Morgan plans to keep most of its application development, application delivery and desktop support in-house.

IBM stole the JP Morgan contract from under the nose of IT services rival EDS. Big Blue has won a series of outsourcing 'mega-contracts' recently, including a seven-year $4bn deal with American Express last year.
