Dundas & Wilson will from next month have its IT infrastructure and helpdesk looked after by Computacenter, following a £1.5m outsourcing deal.
The Scottish law firm has handed support of desktops and laptops, servers and networks for 500 staff to the IT services company.
The deal is part of a trend which is seeing some organisations outsource specific IT functions and systems maintenance. For example Dundas & Wilson will let its in-house IT teams focus on developing information systems and quality of services.
Laurence Ward, partner in charge of technology services at Dundas & Wilson, said the firm was attracted by Computacenter's continuous system support and management promise, including a focus on security.
Computacenter, also known as one of Europe's largest computer resellers, has similar outsourcing relationships in place. Scotland-based telco Thus also signed a desktop, laptop and helpdesk deal in 2001.
