Turkish Airlines has signed a three-year contract for an IP intranet with SITA, the most popular global network operator for the aviation industry.
Described as a "multimillion dollar" deal, the air carrier will use the managed Intranet Connect service for a variety of purposes, including employee internet access, and running internal applications and SITA apps such as WorldTracer, for finding lost luggage.
Ali Guler, Turkish Airlines electronic data processing SVP, said in a statement: "Our offices will be connected using the fastest and most reliable technology available and will be able to access everything from weather and flight briefing services, reservations and cargo applications to individual documents, regardless of location."
The organisation cited the compatibility that IP allows as a key advantage. The implementation will take two years in total and starts with 20 offices being migrated.
