World personal wealth rankings are becoming increasingly dominated by IT entrepreneurs, according to a list of the top ten billionaires in the July issue of US magazine, Forbes.
Bill Gates is listed as the worlds' richest man for the fourth year running. The 42 year old Microsoft chief now has $51bn (£30.5bn) to his name.
Fourth on the list is Hasso Plattner, the former IBM executive who now owns a 23 per cent share in SAP, with a personal fortune of $7bn (£4.2bn).
Masayoshi Son, a young entrepreneur who founded Softbank and now owns Ziff-Davis Magazines, ranks ninth on this year's list with a personal fortune of $2.2bn (£1.3bn).
