In brief: EDS plans to serve chip-makers

EDS has formed a Semiconductor & Electronics Group which it claims will serve the specific IT needs of the microprocessor industry.

The new business group will focus on manufacturing execution system (MES) implementations, and the integration of MES with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

The IT services giant has a track record of supplying manufacturers such as Philips Semiconductors and Fujitsu Microelectronics.
