Racal Electronics is rumoured to be on a takeover alert. UK-reports claim General Electric Company (GEC) is interested in buying the firm, which is valued at more than £1.4bn.
Last week Racal announced it will sell its data communications arm - a division that has long been making losses and allegedly scared GEC off a takeover bid four months ago. A report in The Sunday Times claims that without the loss-making arm, Racal Electronics is a more attractive prospect for GEC.
Racal also stands to win defence orders worth £400m over the next few months, and it is thought that GEC rival British Aerospace (BAe) is also interested in making a bid.
Racal and GEC refused to comment on the speculation.
