Microsoft chairman and CEO Bill Gates has sold 2.5 million company shares just days before he is due to appear before the Federal Monopolies Commission. According to business analyst Bloomberg, the shares are worth almost $270m. Co-founder Paul Allen has also sold $360m worth of shares in recent weeks.
Gates faces accusations of attempting to stifle competition by bundling Microsoft applications with its market leading operating systems.
