Netscape is to provide insurance giant, AXA Sun Life with applications and services.
The Internet company will help create IFALine, an online quotation service for Independent Financial Advisors (IFA). AXA Sun Life claims IFALine is the UK's first real-time service for life and pension advisors, providing up-to-the-minute quotes and information on Sun Life's investment policies.
Andy Gill, ecommerce program manager at AXA Sun Life, said Netscape was chosen for its stable platform. "Technically, it has been running very well. We are waiting for feedback from IFAs to see where improvements can be made, and hope to get it out to 200 users by the end of the month."
The system, based on Netscape's Application Server software, is currently under trial. The insurer hopes to roll out the service to over 20,000 advisors throughout the UK.
