Silicon.com is backing IT-director.com - a free Web-based information source for IT professionals set to launch next week.

Silicon.com will be providing all news content for the service alongside content from IT analysts Bloor Research and Certus, the association for IT directors.

A conference is being held at the Houses of Parliament on 31 March to launch the service. Speakers at the event - which kicks off at 7pm - include David Taylor, president of Certus, Robin Bloor, CEO, Bloor Research, Paul Cooper, IT director, British Gypsum, and Ian Taylor MP, former Minister for Technology.

Bloor said: "IT-director.com will act as a facilitator to the modern IT director and business leader, providing essential high-quality information back-up necessary for IT to generate tangible competitive advantage."

Taylor added: "The millennium represents a major turning point in history, and a real opportunity for IT directors to be the new power players within organisations. We are confident that IT-director.com will become an integral part of an organisation's strategic business agenda."
