Cap Gemini is to buy services firm Beechwood for $200m.
Beechwood supplies IT services to US telecoms providers, including AT&T, Bell Atlantic/Nynex and GTE. It will merge with Cap Gemini's US Telecoms Division, which will be led by Beechwood president and CEO, Ron Ponder.
In a statement, Cap Gemini said it hopes the deal will strengthen its presence in the US, which accounted for 15 per cent of its $4.2bn revenues for 1998. The European consultancy giant said it aims to provide end-to-end IT cover for the US telecoms market.
