Training IT directors has become a priority in Silicon Valley, where Carnegie Mellon University hopes to open a campus site dedicated to the task.
The professional IT complex will be developed in partnership with Nasa, which will supply 212 acres of land in return for access to Carnegie Mellon's pure technology research.
The partnership will offer classes and programs for high-tech executives, funded by Silicon Valley companies and venture capitalists.
The multi-million dollar partnership is due to be finalised this summer.
