The Carphone Warehouse is hoping to attract long-term investors to its IPO next week, by offering bonus shares to anyone who keeps their stake for over three months.

The scheme, which is aimed to discourage "armchair traders", is thought to be the first adopted by a private company, according to reports in the Wall Street Journal.

The UK mobile phone provider has promised to publish application forms for its London Stock Exchange listing at the end of this month.
