silicon.com has launched its third annual skills survey special report, providing an invaluable snapshot of the trends and issues affecting today's market for IT employment.
Published: 28 February 2001 07:00 GMT
The report (http://www.silicon.com/skillssurvey2001 ) highlights the results of a silicon.com survey of IT professionals conducted over the last month. For the first time, the survey looks at the pan-European market for IT skills, polling both silicon.com and silicon.de readers.
Over the next five weeks a variety of video interviews with leading industry experts, academics and IT professionals, as well as in-depth written coverage, will be published to identify key trends and give advice on how companies can satisfy their IT skills requirements.
The survey will reveal whether IT professionals' salaries have risen, if contractors have turned to full time employment in the face of IR35 legislation, and how users generally go about tackling training, skills and new technologies.
In the first video feature, silicon.com's e-society editor Lisa Burroughes speaks to David Burrows from Microsoft, Tina Poulsen from PwC and Karen Price, CEO of e-skills NTO, to find out what's holding back the IT skills market.
Also published this week is an analysis on ASPs (application service providers) and whether they can provide the answer to the skills shortage.
This week is your last chance to give your responses to the survey and be entered for the prize draw to win a Diamond Rio MP3 player. So to have your say, click on: http://www.silicon.com/survey2001
