US telco Sprint has confirmed it is in talks with Virgin Mobile about allowing the UK mobile operator to piggyback on its network.
Sprint confirmed it has discussed an alliance with Richard Branson's Virgin group, but stressed this does not mean a deal has been set in stone.
However, in a statement, the US wireless company said the two companies have agreed "certain preliminary matters".
Virgin mobile has reportedly set aside £50m to cover initial costs which would see it becoming the first company to establish such a deal with a US telecoms operator.
It already has an agreement with Deutsche Telekom that enables it to use One2One's network in the UK.
